Frequently Asked Questions

IS THE TRAIL OPEN? — The Trail is open for walking/hiking, but not quite cycling at this point, unless you happen to use a real fat-tire bike. Users should be aware that the trail is currently undeveloped and may encounter loose stone, pieces of metal, other implements and are using the Trail at their own risk.

WHERE CAN I PARK? — There is ample parking for Trail use available at the Walled Lake Depot site, on  Pontiac Trail just north of Maple Rd.

WILL THE WALLED LAKE DEPOT BE RESTORED? — It is our intention to restore the Depot to serve as a headquarters for the Trail, as well as provide a location for vending machines and restrooms.  It is not currently open.

TELL ME ABOUT THE M-5 BRIDGE. — MDOT plans to build a pedestrian bridge over M-5 in Commerce Township in 2018. In the meantime, please DO NOT cross M-5 at the Trail. More information and construction updates available on our Bridge page.
